From Real Estate to ASMR: The Story Behind SugarSnap Studio
If you know me through real estate, finding SugarSnap Studio might come as a bit of a surprise.
And if you found me through one of my ASMR videos, a SugarSnap LIVE or somewhere along the SugarSnap trail, you might be equally surprised to discover that when I put down the microphone and step away from the camera, I'm also a Realtor serving the Niagara Region.
Somehow, these two very different parts of my life have ended up fitting together beautifully.
There’s More Than One Side to All of Us
Real estate has been an important part of my life for years. I love the people side of it: walking into a home and seeing its possibilities, helping someone through a huge life transition, finding creative ways to market a property and being the person my clients can call when they aren't quite sure what comes next.
But I've always had a deeply creative side too.
Eventually, that side of me became SugarSnap Studio.
I started experimenting with satisfying sounds, food, crunch tests and ASMR simply because I was fascinated by it. Since then, SugarSnap has grown into so much more.
Today I create all kinds of ASMR experiences, playing with sounds, textures, everyday objects, food, visual triggers and those strangely satisfying little moments that make you want to put your headphones on and stay awhile.
Somewhere along the way, though, something happened that I wasn't expecting.
ASMR taught me how to slow down.
Discovering ASMR
Life can be overwhelming at times.
Between work, family, real estate, responsibilities, phones constantly buzzing and a brain that always seems to have another idea waiting in line, slowing down doesn't necessarily come naturally to me.
Creating ASMR gave me a place to relax and ease the stress of the day away.
There is something wonderfully grounding about concentrating on one sound, one texture or one tiny moment. It forces me to pay attention to what's happening right now instead of what's coming next.
And I've discovered that ASMR isn't simply about making satisfying sounds.
It's about how those sounds can make us feel.
For so many people, ASMR is a way to unwind at the end of the day, relax, feel grounded or simply escape the noise for a few minutes.
I've discovered that it can be that for me too.
But one of the biggest surprises has been the connection.
People started coming back. They began recognizing our little traditions, joining my LIVEs, chatting with me and becoming part of this wonderfully quirky community I affectionately call the Crunch Club.
What started as an experiment in creativity has become a genuinely joyful corner of my life.
What Does Any of This Have to Do With Real Estate?
More than you might think.
Being a Niagara Region Realtor has never been just about houses for me.
Homes are incredibly personal. They're where we build our lives, raise our families, celebrate, grieve, start over, grow and sometimes decide we're ready to begin an entirely new chapter.
Of course, I believe people deserve knowledge, experience and professionalism from their Realtor.
But I also believe they deserve a real person.
SugarSnap has allowed people to see a side of me they probably wouldn't discover from a listing photo or a traditional real estate website: my creativity, my humour, my curiosity and my tendency to get ridiculously excited when something makes an unexpectedly fantastic sound.
And strangely enough, SugarSnap has made me better at something that matters enormously in today's real estate world: digital marketing.
Building SugarSnap Studio across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook has taught me firsthand about video, visual storytelling, audience attention, community building and what actually makes somebody stop scrolling long enough to pay attention.
When I'm marketing one of my real estate listings, that creative experience comes right back with me.
Because putting a home on the market and marketing a home aren't necessarily the same thing.
I want people to notice.
Houses and Headphones
So now there are two doors into my world.
Maybe you found me while searching for a Niagara Region Realtor, exploring Niagara real estate or looking for someone to help you buy or sell a home in Southern Ontario, and then discovered SugarSnap Studio.
Or maybe you met me completely differently.
Maybe you found one of my SugarSnap Studio ASMR videos on TikTok or YouTube. Maybe you came across a crunch test, joined one of my LIVEs or wandered into the Crunch Club and eventually thought:
Wait...she sells houses too?
Yep, you bet your bottom dollar I do!
And I actually love that these two worlds have found each other.
Because neither one is a different version of me.
I'm Rose Abbey, a Niagara Region Realtor and the creator of SugarSnap Studio.
I love beautiful homes and creative marketing. I love people and storytelling. I love making people laugh. I love finding unexpected ways to connect.
And through ASMR, I've discovered how powerful something as simple as slowing down, listening and being present can be.
So whether you came here for the houses or the headphones, I'm glad you found me.
Welcome to both sides of my world.
